About the Branch
The Torquay & South-East Devon Branch of the RSPCA is a local charity whose region covers over 350 square miles of Devon and South West England. It is headed by a group of volunteer trustees who show great devotion and dedication to animal welfare. We work tirelessly for the well-being of all animals in the region, even when this means travelling beyond the boundaries of the branch in pursuit of the best possible care.
We receive no funding from the national RSPCA organisation. In order to continue serving animals each day, the branch must raise funds from a range of sources: our charity shops, fundraising events and income from the supporting public through kind donations or legacies. The smooth-running of the branch is only made possible by our team of volunteers – the ‘life blood’ of the RSPCA in our region.
We are proud to operate two Animal Ambulances, each with its own experienced Animal Collection Officer (ACO) who travels the length and breadth of the region rescuing many species of animals in danger. The work of Mike Watts and Chris Inman is a priceless asset to the branch’s animal welfare operations.
The rehoming of cats is another incredibly important part of the branch’s work. Every day we strive to ensure that those pets without a home find the care they need in the hands of a new owner.
We also offer ‘welfare support’ to pet owners who are in receipt of one of our qualifying benefits and cannot afford unexpected and urgent veterinary care.
The branch is extremely grateful to everyone who supports the branch. Information on how to help can be found here.
